NAWG President Testifies On Carbon Markets Before House Ag Committee

The interest of the nation’s wheat growers in having a voluntary carbon market was shared recently with members of the House Agriculture Committee. NAWG President Dave Milligan testified about that interest.

He says wheat growers are the original environmentalists and know how best to produce a crop while storing the carbon. Milligan says they should be compensated for that.

Milligan says he emphasized to the committee members that one size doesn’t fit all when it comes to assisting growers with a voluntary carbon market.

Milligan also says while there’s a lot of potential for carbon markets and compensating growers, there’s also a lack of transparency in program details and that leaves wheat farmers with many questions.
