Friday, President Obama issued a policy directive that takes another major step in normalizing trade relations with Cuba. National Association of Wheat Growers President Gordon Stoner thanked the President for taking that action and says normalized trade relations puts the U.S. in a good position to supply Cuba with wheat and other ag commodities.

He says Congress needs to take note of the President’s directive and lift the trade embargo.

Stoner says one of the answers to boosting the sagging farm economy is increased trade.

The President’s Cuba directive involves the Departments of the Treasury and Commerce issuing further regulatory changes facilitating more interaction between the Cuban and American people through travel and commercial opportunities and more access to information.
