Several Ag Group leaders are concerned the Trump Administration is getting closer to withdrawing the U.S. from the North American Free Trade Agreement. National Association of Wheat Growers President Gordon Stoner, a Montana farmer is drumming up support from farmers and ranchers and others to push President Trump to keep the U.S. in NAFTA.
He says not only has the NAFTA agreement been a win for U.S. agriculture but with the President’s threats to withdraw and other negative trade comments, the U.S. is already losing market share in Mexico to other countries.
Stoner says that market loss to Argentina will likely grow as more countries grab a larger share of the Mexican wheat market.
The U.S. exports nearly $18 billion of agriculture goods to Mexico. The next round of NAFTA talks start next week.
