National Association of Wheat Growers leaders say they’re looking forward to working with Ag Secretary nominee Sonny Perdue. NAWG President Gordon Stoner says they hope to get Perdue educated on wheat and other commodity issues that affect producers who aren’t from the South.

He says they also hope to work with Perdue sharing with him wheat’s concerns going forward.

Stoner says crafting of the new farm bill will likely get underway fairly soon and they’ll be weighing in with the new Ag Secretary on that.

Stoner says while he’d like to get a farm bill passed sooner rather than later, there hasn’t been a farm bill passed on time since 1996. He says hopefully that can be overcome.
