The National Association of Wheat Growers has joined 59 other Agriculture and Commodity Groups in asking Congress to preserve Crop Insurance as they begin budget discussions. NAWG CEO Chandler Goule says they’re reminding Congress not to cut this needed program for farmers.
He says it would be unwise to cut crop insurance at a time when the farm economy is in a downturn.
Goule says while there are costs to the crop insurance program it’s actually cheaper than having to continually pass ad hoc disaster programs.
Goule says the Ag Coalition wanted to get this letter out before Congress decides on their budget and the needed appropriation measures.
