The development of a grain loading facility at a rail junction in Yankton County may lead to the expansion of natural gas lines in south east South Dakota.
Dakota Plains is building the facility at Napa junction, and is looking at hooking into a natural gas line.
Public Utilities Commission Chairman Chris Nelson says current gas lines are about maxed out….

Nelson says a gas line extension from the Yankton city limits is possible…..

Northern Natural Gas has a major line along I-29, with a branch to Yankton. Mid American Energy then provides gas on a retail basis.

Nelson says the gas crunch is unique to the south east corner…..

Nelson spoke at the quarterly meeting of Yankton Area Progressive Growth.
