A new analysis from the Renewable Fuels Association found approximately 500 million gallons of E15 were sold nationwide in 2019, setting a new record. American Coalition for Ethanol Board member Troy Knecht, past South Dakota Corn Growers President, says that’s encouraging for U.S. agriculture as well as for consumers.
He says the E15 record is good economic news that’s critical for the nation’s farmers and ranchers who are trying to stay in business.
Knecht says approval of year-round use of E15 came in May of 2019 and the next step is to prepare for even higher blends of renewable fuels.
Sales of E15 would have been higher if not for the dozens of RFS Small Refinery Exemptions granted by the EPA.
