The National Pork Board has launched a new tool called AgView. It’s a new technology designed to help the U.S. pork industry respond faster than ever before in the event of a foreign animal disease outbreak. NPB’s Senior Vice President of Science and Technology Dr. Dave Pyburn says producers can be assured of confidentiality when using the tool and it’s fairly simple to utilize.
SDSU Extension Swine Specialist Dr. Bob Thaler says this new AgView tool will work well with the Secure Pork plan which also helps producers defend and mitigate against foreign animal diseases.
He says having a plan approved by the State Veterinarian will give pork producers the edge in being able to move their animals once movement is allowed following any foreign animal disease outbreak.
Pyburn says AgView is designed to help protect against any of the three major foreign animal diseases such as African Swine Fever, Foot and Mouth Disease and Classical Swine Fever.
