The Food and Drug Administration’s Veterinary Feed Directive involving new antibiotic rules for livestock went into effect the first of this year. Now the National Pork Board is holding a free on line webinar to answer producer questions about the new rules and assist them with compliance, if they haven’t already done so. Pork Board Vice President of Science and Technology Dr. Dave Pyburn is one of the presenters.

He says producers need to keep in mind, the FDA oversees this regulation and will be monitoring who is or isn’t in compliance.

Pyburn says consequences are severe for both producers and veterinarians if they don’t follow the rule.
