America’s pork producers will produce a record number of market hogs this year. It is also anticipated this high level of production will continue well into 2017. National Pork Board CEO Bill Even says the pork checkoff group is taking a number of significant steps to help move the large supply of pork through the U.S. marketplace.
He says what’s also helped move the large supply is the increase in exports to Mexico despite the lower price of the peso. Even says the pork checkoff is also focused on the multicultural marketing segment in the U.S..
Even says they’re also implementing digital marketing and on line promotion of pork.
Even says pork sales are consistently strong in the fourth quarter of the year and in 2015, those sales totaled $3.6 billion with 1.125 billion pounds.
