A delegation representing the National Pork Board recently returned home after participating in a trade mission to Japan. National Pork Board director and an Easton, Minnesota pork producer Dale Stevermer was on the trip and spoke on behalf of the U-S pork industry to Japanese officials. Stevermer says the Japanese prefer the quality and flavor of U-S pork and they are an important customer of U-S pork.
The National Pork Board director says the Japanese prefer having their imported pork be chilled as opposed to having a frozen product.
Stevermer says the Japanese are interested in knowing more about U-S farming operations as they were impressed with photos Stevermer shared with the group.
