Four finalists are vying to become the National Pork Board’s 2018 America’s Pig Farmer of the Year. The finalists are: Bill Luckey of Nebraska, Brad Lundell and Kevin Rasmussen of Iowa and Patrick Bane of Illinois. National Pork Board President Steve Rommereim of Alcester, South Dakota says the finalists demonstrate how pig farmer embrace the We Care ethical principles as their daily standard of care.
He says the judging panel that chose the finalists come from diverse backgrounds with most of them far removed from production agriculture.
Rommereim says whoever wins the award will have an opportunity to share the pork industry’s story with consumers one on one.
The public has an opportunity to vote for the winner and can do so by going to America’sPigFarmer.com from now until August 29. The winner will be announced in early October.
