National Park Service Asking for City Land

The National Park Service has asked the Yankton City Commission to donate about forty acres of land between the Meridian and Discovery Bridges, on the Nebraska side of the Missouri River.

Missouri National Recreational River Superintendent Rick Clark says they need ownership to get funding for the area……

Clark says they would like to improve the trails in those woods…..

Clark says they would go through a public process before any changes are made….

The land is a remnant of the construction of the Meridian Bridge in 1924, and was turned over to the city in 1954.
