National Milk Producers Federation Wants Immigration And Farm Bills Passed This Year

National Milk Producer Federation members are monitoring what happens in Congress with immigration reform and the farm bill. Federation’s Chris Galen says last week the House Farm Bill failed when immigration got tied into the debate. He says they’re still trying to figure out what happens with the discharge petition which calls for votes on different immigration packages.

He says now it appears the immigration debate will get pushed to late next month at the earliest.

Galen says his group wants to see a farm bill passed this year as well as immigration reform.

Galen says it’s critical Congress pass a measure that changes the current U.S. immigration policy and allows for a legal workforce for the dairy industry.
