Texas’s attorney general is asking a federal court in the state to issue a national injunction on the 2015 Waters of the U.S. Rule. Currently the rule is on hold in 28 states and in effect in 22. National Cattlemen’s Beef Association President Jennifer Houston says her group wants the old Obama-era WOTUS thrown out and the new proposed rule by the Trump Administration approved.

She says the new proposed rule is more transparent and it’s easier for producers to understand which waters are regulated and which ones are not.

Houston says WOTUS needs to cover the entire country and having a patchwork of rules being implemented doesn’t work well. She says they’re encouraging their members to submit comments on the new rule.

For the past three years the 2015 WOTUS rule has been held up in dozens of lawsuits and legal procedures across the country.
