National Grain and Feed Association leaders are pleased with the selection of Former Georgia Governor Sonny Perdue as the nominee for Secretary of Agriculture under the Trump administration. NGFA President Randy Gordon says Perdue has great experience on issues effecting the National Grain and Feed Association and agriculture in general.
He says if confirmed Perdue will also be helpful as the new farm bill is written.
Gordon says Iowa Senator Chuck Grassley and others who have expressed concern about having someone from the South head up USDA should know Perdue is fair and will back a farm bill that helps all farmers, regardless of region.
Perdue is a veterinarian, grew up on a row crop and dairy farm and has served on the National Grain and Feed Association Board of Directors since 2014.
