The Commodity Futures Trading Commission has a proposal now under public comment that would expand their access to the computer code that would bring high frequency traders under their oversight. National Grain and Feed Association Senior Vice President of Marketing Todd Kemp says what’s up for the public to weigh in on is a proposal that’s been adjusted.

The CFTC proposal if approved would allow them to get high frequency traders computer information without putting forth a subpoena for it. He says his group understands concerns of High Frequency Traders having their computer information open for inspection where it could be possibly hacked or be compromised.

Kemp says NGFA had some other concerns with the original CFTC plan that was fixed when the supplemental proposal was passed and sent for public comment.

The CFTC proposal is now under a sixty day public comment period.
