Cattle producers from across the country are in Reno, Nevada this week for the summer convention of the National Cattlemen and Beef Association.  NCBA Vice President of Government Affairs, Ethan Lane says members will discuss several issues this week including the provisions of the new farm bill legislation.  Lane says the mid-term elections in November will help decide which issues will emerge as priority issues for the nation’s cattle producers.  One issue the National Cattlemen and Beef Association will be watching is the Fischer-Grassley cattle marketing transparency bill.  The bill has passed the Senate Agriculture Committee, but as of yet, it has not been introduced for a full Senate vote.  Although some state cattle associations such as Nebraska and Iowa favor the approval of the bill, the National Cattlemen and Beef Association is on record against the bill.
