National Biodiesel Board says Trump Biofuels Plan will Restore the RFS

On Friday President Donald Trump announced a plan to reallocate lost biofuel volumes from the small refiner waivers granted from the Renewable Fuel Standard. The National Biodiesel Board thanked the President for directing the EPA to take that action. National Biodiesel Board CEO Donnell Rehagen says the reallocation plan helps restore the integrity of the RFS.

The President’s plan accounts for the lost gallons based on a three-year average of all exempted gallons beginning with 2020 biofuel targets. Rehagen says the small refiner exemptions have caused a lot of damage to the biodiesel industry.

He says more details on the plan are still being released.

Rehagen says the lost volumes caused nine biodiesel plants to close their doors or reduce operations and created the lay off of more than 200 employees.
