National Biodiesel Board members are unhappy with the Environmental Protection Agency’s proposed rule for the 2020 Renewable Fuels Standard and 2021 Biomass-based Diesel Volumes. The EPA’s proposed advanced biofuel volume for 2020 is 5.05 billion gallons and the biomass-based diesel volume for 2021 is 2.43 billion gallons, the same as 2020. National Biodiesel Board CEO Donnell Rehagen says those levels undermine any market growth for the industry.
He says there’s a contradiction between what the EPA is proposing and the President’s voiced support for renewable fuels.
Rehagen says they’ll be pushing the EPA to raise those levels going forward.
Rehagen says with their proposed RVOs EPA is encouraging more petroleum use and less market growth for cleaner fuels.
