Senators Chuck Grassley and Maria Cantwell have introduced legislation to extend the one dollar per gallon biodiesel tax credit through 2017. National Biodiesel Board member and Minnesota grower Ed Hegland says the way the measure is administered is different from past tax credits and is important for ag and non ag interests alike.
Hegland says the biodiesel industry thrived in the past when the biodiesel tax credit was in effect working along with the Renewable Fuel Standard.
He says having a biodiesel tax credit operating helps industry investment, growth and jobs.
The legislation also simplifie’s the biodiesel definition to encourage production from any biomass-based feedstock or recycled fats and oils
