National Biodiesel Board members are coming off their recent convention and turning their attention to lobbying Congress to restore the biodiesel tax credit. However, it may have to remain a blenders credit. Biodiesel Board member and Nebraska grower Greg Anderson, says they’d like to get the incentive approved as soon as possible and made retroactive.
He says they want Congress to change the $1 per gallon blenders incentive to a producers credit. The Senate Finance Committee supports that move, but Anderson says the Trump administration wants to keep the status quo.
Meanwhile, Anderson says several states have taken the lead on biodiesel measures, including a push for higher blends and a bioheat mandate in the northeastern U.S.
Anderson says the National Oil Heat Research Alliance is trying to get higher blends of bioheat approved. He says their goal is to have 100 percent bioheat usage by 2050.
