National Biodiesel Board members have filed comments with the Environmental Protection Agency on their 2020 proposal for Renewable Volume Obligations under the Renewable Fuel Standard. National Biodiesel Board member and Nebraska grower Greg Anderson says they want an increase in the RVOs for biomass based diesel.
He says their other concern is that RFS hardship waivers that were granted earlier have hurt demand for biodiesel and need to be corrected and the volumes waived need to be reallocated.
Anderson says NBB estimated that the RFS waivers granted to refiners for 2016 and 2017 reduced demand for biodiesel by more than 300 million gallons.
Anderson says that reduction has resulted in the loss of 9,000 jobs.
