National Biodiesel Board DIrector Disappointed With EPA Proposed RFS Rule

The National Biodiesel Board is disappointed with the proposed rule unveiled by the Environmental Protection Agency this week on the Renewable Fuel Standard and Small Refiner Exemptions. NBB Board Director and Nebraska farmer Greg Anderson says the EPA’s notice contains a never before discussed proposal to estimate small refinery exemptions with no assurance that the exemptions will come close to actual exemptions.

He says this EPA proposal makes it difficult to trust the agency or even the Administration that they’ll go forward with what they’ve agreed to.

Anderson says it shouldn’t be difficult to have the EPA or the Administration be transparent as it relates to small refiner exemption or RFS policies. He also says there needs to be a strong RFS in place for the biodiesel industry to grow.

Anderson says the biodiesel industry will be weighing in with the EPA when they hold their public forum on the proposal on October 30 and will also submit comments to the proposed rule.
