Now through July 3, the National Scholastic Athletic Foundations’ high school championship meet presented by Nike is taking place. And South Dakota Beef Industry Council’s Executive Director Suzy Geppert says NASF is showcasing the Council’s Build Your Base Beef program which will result in getting more beef out to consumers.

She says the South Dakota Beef Industry Council worked with Sanford Health to put together the Build Your Base program four years ago where athletes included beef in their diets as a healthy choice.

Geppert says there are now 40 South Dakota High Schools that have incorporated the Build Your Base program. She says besides the NASF endorsement, athletes at the U.S. Olympic trials in Eugene, Oregon have also picked up on the program.

Geppert says the Build Your Base program is a great example of how the Beef Checkoff is bringing great benefits to producers and consumers.
