The National Association of State Departments of Agriculture is asking USDA and the Food and Drug Administration to create a clear regulatory framework for hemp products as quickly as possible. NASDA Vice President Doug (gore-ing) Goehring says it’s needed as there is so much uncertainty about hemp and its products.

He says federal guidelines are needed so states don’t proceed with a patchwork of rules.

Goehring who is North Dakota’s Ag Commissioner says one of the key questions with hemp is CBD oil. He says they will be having a meeting Friday in Bismarck to answer questions that processors, farmers and others have about that oil.

Goehring also says there’s increasing confusion in retail aisles about hemp products and the terms that describe them.
