Narrow Lead Holds Up in Senate Primary Recount

State Senator Art Rusch of Vermillion held on to his narrow lead following a recount in the District 17 republican Senate primary. He defeated Representative Nancy Rasmussen of Hurley by a 1002 to 998 vote margin. He had a six-vote lead on election night.

Rasmussen had been term limited in the House and was attempting to make the move to the Senate. If Rusch wins in November, he would be serving his final two-year term in the Senate.
