Napa Junction Development Still Possible

The Yankton County Commission heard this week that development prospects at Napa Junction are not dead.

That rail switch had been in discussion for the construction of a large grain loading facility, but talks with Dakota Plains of Parkston broke down last year, with the company later looking at a site west of Tabor.

Commissioner Don Kettering says there have been discussion with Yankton Area Progressive Growth about that location…

Kettering says the county may have to move up the timetable on replacing a bridge near that site…

The commission last year discussed a tax increment financing district that would cover some of the development costs. Kettering says even with that, the financing is still short of what is needed…

Kettering says YAPG is looking at a market survey to see if other companies might be interested in the development of that rail junction, located North West of Yankton.
