Names Released in Turner County Fatal Accident

Two people from Viborg, S.D. have been identified as those killed late Friday night in a two-vehicle crash near Viborg.

A 2002 Chevrolet Silverado K2500 pickup was northbound on 455th Avenue. A 2015 Dodge Dart SXT was westbound on 290th Street. Neither vehicle stopped at the uncontrolled intersection and the two collided. Both vehicles came to rest in the northwest ditch.

Pronounced dead at the scene – were Kelley Fox, the 17-year-old passenger in the pickup, and Brady Patterson, the 19-year-old driver of the vehicle.

Austin Jensen of Viborg, the 17-year-old driver of the pickup, sustained life-threatening injuries and was airlifted to a Sioux Falls hospital. Charges are pending against him.

Neither occupant in the pickup was wearing a seatbelt. The driver of the Dart was wearing a seatbelt.

South Dakota’s Highway Patrol is investigating the crash.
