Names Released in Hand County Fatal Accident

A Saint Lawrence, S.D. man has been identified as the person who died late Sunday night in a two-vehicle crash west of Wessington.

A 1993 Chevrolet S-10 pickup was westbound on U.S. Highway 14 when the driver lost control due to icy road conditions. The vehicle slid into the path of an eastbound 2019 Chevrolet Silverado.

Phillip Chandler, Jr., 24, was the driver of the Chevrolet S-10 pickup. He was not wearing a seat belt and was thrown from the vehicle. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Klay Min, 26, of Huron, S.D., was the other driver. He received life-threatening injuries and was eventually transferred to a Sioux Falls hospital. He was wearing a seat belt.

South Dakota’s Highway Patrol continues to investigate the crash. All information is only preliminary at this point.
