A 20-year-old Pierre woman has been identified as the person who died Tuesday night in a one-vehicle rollover north of Hayes.

A 2002 Ford Expedition was westbound on Sansarc Road when the driver lost control trying to avoid a deer that had entered the roadway. The vehicle went into the ditch and rolled, coming to rest on its roof.

Romy Rabbit, who was the passenger, was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver, 45-year-old Ravae Bowman of Pierre, suffered minor injuries and was transported to a Pierre hospital.

Both occupants were wearing seatbelts. No charges are pending against the driver.

A Chandler, Arizona man has been identified as the person who died Monday night in a vehicle-pedestrian crash south of Hermosa.

A 1999 Buick Century was southbound on South Dakota Highway 79 when the vehicle moved over to the passing lane due to vehicles parked along the shoulder of the road because one of the vehicles had struck a deer. The Buick Century hit the pedestrian, 54-year-old David Kollar, who was in the roadway with the deer.

The pedestrian was pronounced dead at the scene. Collin, Montgomery, 23, of Rapid City, was driving the car. He was not injured. He is not facing charges.

South Dakota’s Highway Patrol is investigating the crashes.
