Names Released in Day County Fatal Accident

A Waubay, S.D., man has been identified as the person who died Saturday morning in a vehicle-pedestrian crash near Waubay.

A 2005 Chevy Classic car was northbound on Day County One when it struck Louis Buck Elk, the 37-year-old pedestrian, who was in the roadway. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Terrence StJohn, 48, of Sisseton was the driver and Natasha Chavira-Molina, 33, of Eden was the passenger. Both occupants received minor injuries and were taken by ambulance to the Webster hospital. Seat belt use is under investigation.

South Dakota’s Highway Patrol is investigating the crash. All information released so far is only preliminary.
