A Huron man has been identified as the person who died Wednesday morning in a two-vehicle crash near Carpenter.
A 2008 Chevrolet Uplander mini van was eastbound on South Dakota Highway 28. A GMC 3500 van was westbound at the same location when the driver lost control on the ice covered road. The GMC vehicle slid into the eastbound lane and collided with the Uplander.
Gregory Johnson, 67, was the passenger in the Uplander. He was not wearing a seatbelt and was pronounced dead at the scene.
Claudia Johnson, 67, of Huron was the driver of the Uplander. She suffered serious non-life threatening injuries and was transported by ambulance to the Huron hospital.
The driver of the GMC was Victoria Rosendahl, 25, of Wall. She sustained minor injuries and was taken by ambulance to the Watertown hospital.
Both women were wearing seatbelts. Charges are pending against Rosendahl.
South Dakota’s Highway Patrol is investigating the crash. Other agencies on scene were the Beadle County Sheriff’s Office, Clark County Sheriff’s Office, Hamlin County Sheriff’s Office, Spink County Sheriff’s Office, Beadle County Coroner, Clark County Coroner, Willow Lake Fire and Rescue, Clark Ambulance, Watertown Ambulance and South Dakota Department of Transportation.
