Name Released in Stanley County Fatal Crash

A Hot Springs, S.D., woman has been identified as the person who died Friday morning in a one-vehicle crash west of Fort Pierre.

Preliminary crash information indicates a 2003 Nissan Xterra was eastbound on U.S. Highway 14 when the vehicle left roadway to the north and rolled.

Hayley Kern, the 36-year-old driver, was not wearing a seat belt and was thrown from the vehicle. She was pronounced dead at the scene.

South Dakota’s Highway Patrol is investigating the crash. All information released so far is only preliminary.
