A Mitchell, S.D., man has been identified as the person who died early Friday morning in a one-vehicle crash in Draper.

Preliminary crash information indicates a 2020 GMC Equinox was northbound on 279th Avenue when it went through the intersection of South Dakota Highway 248 and Cemetery Road. The vehicle hit a stop sign, went off the roadway and struck a grain bin loaded with corn. Both the vehicle and corn started on fire.

Jason Buie, the 51-year-old driver and only occupant, was pronounced dead at the scene. Seat belt use is under investigation.

South Dakota’s Highway Patrol is investigating the crash. All information released so far is only preliminary.
