Name Released in Hughes County Fatal Crash

An Aberdeen, S.D. man has been identified as the person who died in a one-vehicle crash that occurred Friday, Nov. 26, north of Pierre.

Preliminary crash information indicates that a 2019 Mazda CX-5 was southbound on South Dakota Highway 1804 when the vehicle entered the west ditch, re-entered the highway, entered the east ditch and rolled.

Wayde Wieczorek, the 25-year-old driver, was not wearing a seat belt and was thrown from the vehicle. He was transported by ambulance to the Pierre hospital and then airlifted to a Sioux Falls hospital. He died on Friday, Dec. 3.

South Dakota’s Highway Patrol is investigating the crash. All information released so far is only preliminary.
