A 42-year-old Marty, S.D., man has been identified as the person who died early Sunday morning in a vehicle-pedestrian crash east of Marty.

Preliminary information indicates that Richard Hare, Jr., was walking east on South Dakota Highway 46 when he was struck by an unknown vehicle in the roadway. The pedestrian was pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver and vehicle involved have not yet been identified.

South Dakota’s Highway Patrol is investigating the crash. All information released so far is only preliminary.
