With the migration of thousands of geese and ducks across the region, Iowa Secretary of Agriculture Mike Naig says he is concerned there likely could be another outbreak of the Highly Pathogenic Avian Influenza, or bird flu, strike poultry farms. Naig was in Le Mars, Iowa, on Wednesday speaking at the Agricultural Business Luncheon.
The Iowa Department of Agriculture reported a case of Highly Pathogenic Avian Influenza last week in Chickasaw County in a backyard flock. Last week’s confirmed case was the 32nd case of bird influenza reported in Iowa sinch March of 2022.
