Last week members of the National Association of Conservation Districts filed comments on USDA’s reorganization plan. NACD President Brent Van Dyke says on the surface his group has no problem combining NRCS with the Farm Service Agency as outlined in the plan.
However, he says NACD does have concerns if conservation programs for producers are cut.
And Van Dyke says while they are not opposed to streamlining programs to make them run more efficiently they don’t support NRCS office consolidations.
He says it’s critical NRCS offices are located geographically close to producers and their operations to create highly specialized conservation plans.
