Groups from several States including State Attorneys General, farm and business groups are joining the National Cattlemen’s Beef Association in opposing EPA’s proposed Waters of the U.S. rule. The State of Texas also is looking at suing EPA over the rule. NCBA Environmental Counsel Ashley McDonald says the Supreme Court earlier said EPA was overstepping its bounds but the agency says they’re confusing the issue.
She says EPA tried to appease ag groups by putting in the interpretive rule as part of their WOTUS proposal but the ag practices they’re exempting there are already allowed anyway. That has upset many groups prompting them to oppose EPA.
McDonald is at the Missouri State Fair this week working with Ag groups showing maps of how much overreach the WOTUS rule would have.
McDonald says NCBA and all of agriculture is facing the fight of its life with this proposed rule so everyone needs to get involved and submit comments to EPA. She says you can go to BEEFUSA.ORG to do that.
