Mountain Lion Hunting Survives

Mountain Lion Hunting Survives

Mountain lion hunting might continue in Nebraska.
The legislature fell short of the votes needed to override Governor Heineman’s veto of a bill banning the hunts.
Senator Al Davis of Hyannis opposes the override, noting that the legislature authorized the hunts only two years ago. . .

Senator Ernie Chambers has failed to secure enough votes to override the veto. He told colleagues his opposition to mountain lion hunts is a deeply held principle…and that he will use any means necessary to end the hunts.

When the vote fell short of the total needed to override the veto, Chambers changed his vote so he can move for a re-consideration of the vote before the session ends.
