Mount Marty College president, Dr. Joseph Benoit, notified the Board of Trustees that effective yesterday. (May 19) he had decided to resign his position.  Benoit had served as the president of the College since July of 2011.

Benoit said he missed teaching as well as scientific research and policy, and looked forward to resuming his scientific career and being directly engaged in the education and training of future scientists.

The Mount Marty College Board of Trustees will act as quickly as possible to name an interim president and to identify the process and timeline for hiring a permanent replacement for Benoit.

Sister Penny Bingham, prioress of Sacred Heart Monastery and Board of Trustees member said the Trustees will now begin the process of hiring an interim president to serve the College during the search for new leadership,.

Benoit was the tenth president at the private, Catholic, Benedictine co-educational liberal arts college.
