With the announcement of its new U.S. Collegiate Archery Association (USCA) program for the 2017-18 academic year, Mount Marty College is bringing two standouts from the National Field Archery Association (NFAA) headquarters in Yankton, South Dakota, on board as coaches for MMC Archery’s inaugural year.
Josahan “Jos” Jaime-Santacruz, programs director for the NFAA Easton Center, and Britta True, assistant archery programs director for the NFAA Easton Center, will recruit the first class of MMC varsity archers and lead the team through its first year of competitions.
“We are already getting prospective student-athletes wanting to compete for Mount Marty’s archery team,” says Jaime-Santacruz, who notes that the NFAA’s world-class facilities and MMC’s strong athletics program make for a natural partnership. “There’s a buzz of anticipation in the archery community in this region about this phenomenal opportunity. I think we’ll get some stellar archers for the 2017-18 season, and I’m excited to work with them and help them make their mark in collegiate archery.”
Jaime-Santacruz is a graduate of Texas A&M University and a former member of its women’s varsity archery program, as well as a three-time All-American. She has been a competitive archer for 17 years and a coach for 10, including serving on the coaching staff for the U.S. National Junior Dream Team training program.
Britta True, MMC Archery assistant coach, graduated from the University of South Dakota with a degree in kinesiology and sport management before going on to teach outdoor education in Colorado. With numerous years of athletic experience under her belt, she considers health, fitness and sports to be passions she wants to pass on to others, and she looks forward to sharing that with the MMC team.
