Morningside Women Solid Pick

Morningside totaled 121 points and is the preseason coaches’ selections to win the 2015-2016 Great Plains Athletic Conference (GPAC) Women’s Basketball Championship.

The Mustangs tallied 11 first place votes. Concordia garnered the remaining first place vote and was picked to finish second with 101 points.

Last season there was a four GPAC teams dominated the post season, with Briar Cliff, Concordia, Hastings and Morningside advancing to the semifinals in the NAIA Women’s Basketball DII National Championship. Morningside defeated Concordia in the final to win the title. It was a rematch of the GPAC Postseason Tournament in which Concordia defeated the Mustangs who were the regular season champs.

 

Points were awarded on an 11-1 basis and coaches’ could not vote for their own team.
