The 2015 Great Plains Athletic Conference Postseason Women’s Soccer Tournament Championship Match was played Friday with the second seeded Morningside Mustangs defeating fifth seeded Concordia 2-1.
The game winning goal was by Jackie Martinez with 38 seconds left in the game (89:22).
Martinez scored the Mustangs first goal of the game at the 7:59 mark of the first half to give Morningside the early 1-0 lead. Concordia answered with a goal by Jeanelle Condame at the 17:49 mark of the first half.
Morningside joins regular season champion Hastings as the league’s automatic representatives to the NAIA National Women’s Soccer National Championship Opening Round on Saturday, November 21. The GPAC is allotted two automatic berths because the conference has 12 NAIA teams in the postseason.
Sixteen teams will advance to the NAIA Women’s Soccer National Championship Final Site in Orange Beach, Alabama, November 30 – December 5, 2015, at the Orange Beach Sports Complex.
