Third-seeded Midland pulled the lone upset of the Great Plains Athletic Conference (GPAC) Men’s Basketball Tournament defeating Dakota Wesleyan 81-74 on Saturday in Mitchell, South Dakota.

On the other side of the bracket top-seed Morningside picked up an 89-77 win over fourth-seed Briar Cliff.

Both teams are now assured an automatic berth to the NAIA Men’s Division II National Tournament in Point Lookout, Missouri, which runs March 11-17 at Keeter Gymnasium/College of the Ozarks, since Morningside garnered the regular season top seed and automatic berth.

The GPAC Men’s Basketball Tournament Championship, presented by Rawlings, will be played on Tuesday, March 3rd at 8 PM, following the GPAC Women’s Basketball Tournament Championship which features Morningside and Concordia at 6 PM.

The top-seeded Mustangs defeated fourth-seed Briar Cliff 77-62 at home, while second-seed Concordia also won at home over third-seed Hastings, 67-60.
