Morningside Sweeps GPAC Awards

Morningside players swept the weekly Player of the Week awards in basketball for the Great Plains Athletic Conference.

Women – Sydeny Hupp, Morningside College (Forward)
Morningside College forward Sydney Hupp is this week’s GPAC/Hauff Mid-America Sports women’s basketball player-of-the-week. Hupp, a sophomore from O’Neill, Nebraska, averaged 20.5 points and 10.0 rebounds per game and shot a sizzling 78.9 percent from the field with 15 field goals in 19 attempts to lead the Mustangs to a 2-0 week. Hupp had a double double against Midland with game-high totals of 19 points and 12 rebounds. She scored 22 points, grabbed eight rebounds and dealt a career-high four assists against Mount Marty.

Men – Alex Borchers, Morningside College (Guard)
Morningside guard Alex Borchers is this week’s GPAC/Hauff Mid-America Sports men’s basketball player-of-the-week. Borchers, a sophomore from South Sioux City, Nebraska, averaged 18.0 points and 5.5 assists per game while shooting 60.0 percent from the field in the Mustangs’ two victories. He dealt a game-high eight assists in the Mustangs’ victory against Mount Marty for his second highest total of the season. Borchers has averaged 16.3 points per game over the last nine games to raise his season’s average to 13.3 points per game.
