Morningside shot a team total of 342 to claim Great Plains Athletic Conference (GPAC) Women’s Golf Qualifier #1.
The round was played at Two Rivers Golf Club in Dakota Dunes, South Dakota and was hosted by Briar Cliff University.
As a team Morningside had three golfers in the top 10 as Myla Brown tied for third (83) and Alex Mankle and Cheyanne Becker each tied for ninth place (85).
Mount Marty and Nebraska Wesleyan tied for second place, four shots back of the Mustangs at 346. Dakota Wesleyan, who has won the last seven GPAC Championships, finished in a tie for fourth with Concordia (354).
Individually, Lauren Fitts of Dakota Wesleyan led the field with a 75 on the day. Nebraska Wesleyan’s Kelsey Marshall was seven back with an 82. Five different golfers shot an 83 to tie for third place on the day.
Hastings will host GPAC Qualifier #2 on October 5 at Southern Hills Golf Course in Hastings, Nebraska.
The GPAC will qualify two teams for the NAIA National Golf Championships. The medalist, if not a member of the championship team, will also advance to the championships.
