The Great Plains Athletic Conference (GPAC) Men’s Fall Golf Qualifier is complete from Sioux Falls, South Dakota.
Teams played the first 36 holes (18 each day) at Willow Run. The final 36 holes will be played in the spring at Eagle, Nebraska, and Woodland Hills.
After 36 holes of action the Morningside Mustangs sit atop the team leader board with a one over total of 569. The Mustangs shot 286 on the opening day before coming in at 284 (-1) as a team on the second day. Northwestern sits eight strokes back with a 577 while Doane is in theird with a two-day total of 579. Concordia and Dordt round out the top five team with a 583 and 595 respectively.
Individually the clubhouse leader after 36 holes is Cody Holck of Morningside who fired a three under 139 (70-69). Justin Kraft of Northwestern is currently second with a 140 (68-72) while Corey Matthey of Morningside is in third at 141 (71-70) and Evan Schuler of Northwestern is fourth 142 (71-71). Four golfers are tied for fifth with a tally of 143. A complete leaderboard can be found via the links below.
Northwestern is the defending GPAC Men’s Golf Champion. The Red Raider men posted a four round, 72 hole total of 1227 to claim the 2016-17 GPAC Men’s Golf Championship. Morningside was second in the team race with a 1236.
Northwestern is ranked 24th in the recent NAIA Men’s Golf National Poll, while Morningside is receiving votes.
The first 36 holes for the GPAC Women will be played Monday and Tuesday, October 9-10, in Vermillion, South Dakota, at The Bluffs.
