First round action Saturday in the NAIA football playoffs saw top seed Morningside advance to the next round while Northwestern of Iowa had their season end.

Morningside scored a 49-20 victory over Rocky Mountain College of Montana to run their record to 12-0 on the season.

The Mustangs step back on to home turf Saturday, Nov. 24. as St. Xavier University of Illinois makes the western trek.

Fifth-ranked Northwestern could not overcome five turnovers in losing to #15 Dickinson State 14-6.

The Red Raiders, making their 20th appearance in the FCS, are now 14-6 in the first round and 21-18 overall in the postseason. Northwestern ends the season with a 9-2 record.
